The 2025-on T7 shares its body with the new Ford Transit Custom and takes the same kits, so its figures match that van; kits currently cover the standard (H1) roof. Kits for the new shape are for the panel van: crew van kits for the 2024-on Transit Custom and the 2025-on Transporter T7 are not available yet, and the crew kits listed here fit the earlier shape only.

What length racking fits in a Volkswagen Transporter SWB on the offside?

On a 2003-2025 Transporter T5/T6 SWB the StowPro Offside kit runs 2,030 mm of shelving along a 2,575 mm load floor; on the 2025-on T7 L1H1 it runs 2,100 mm along a 2,602 mm floor.

The offside (driver's side) has no sliding door breaking it up, so it takes your longest run before the rear doors. For this side only choose the Offside Only kit; for both walls choose the Full Kit.

How long is the load area in a Volkswagen Transporter?

The 2003-2025 Transporter T5/T6 load length is 2,575 mm on the SWB and 2,975 mm on the LWB; the 2025-on T7 is longer at 2,602 mm (L1H1) and 3,002 mm (L2H1), measured along the floor.

Load width is 1,700 mm on the T5/T6 and 1,777 mm on the T7, narrowing to 1,244 mm and 1,392 mm respectively between the wheel arches. StowPro build a kit for each of these bodies, so you match the rack to your exact van.

Do the T5/T6 and the new T7 Transporter take the same racking?

No. The 2025-on T7 is a different van: it shares its body with the 2024-on Ford Transit Custom, so it takes those kits, not the T5/T6 ones.

The T5/T6, T6.1 and the vans before them (2003 to 2025) all share one body and take the T5/T6 kits. If you are buying for a van registered around the changeover, check the shape rather than the year: the T7 has the wider 1,392 mm gap between the wheel arches and a much larger side door aperture. Crew vans are a separate case again: the crew kits on this page fit the 2003-2025 shape only, and a crew kit for the T7 is not available yet, so do not order a panel van kit for a crew van. Do I need the nearside or offside racking kit for my Volkswagen Transporter?

Choose the Offside (driver's side) kit for the longest uninterrupted run, the Nearside (passenger side) kit to rack around the sliding door, or the Full Kit to fit out both walls.

On every Transporter the standard sliding load door is on the nearside, so that side is split into shorter modules while the offside takes the longer run. That holds for the T7 as well, though its side door aperture is far wider at around 1,400 mm against roughly 1,017 mm on the T5/T6. Most trades kitting out a whole van take the Full Kit.

Will racking fit between the wheel arches in a Volkswagen Transporter?

Yes. There is 1,244 mm between the wheel arches on the 2003-2025 T5/T6 and 1,392 mm on the 2025-on T7, and StowPro units are sized to sit within that width.

Above the arches the load area opens out to 1,700 mm on the T5/T6 and 1,777 mm on the T7, so upper shelves can be wider than the floor-level base.

How much headroom is there for tall racking in a Volkswagen Transporter?

The 2003-2025 T5/T6 offers Low 1,410 / Medium 1,635 / High 1,940 mm of internal load height depending on the roof; the 2025-on T7 currently comes as a low roof only, at around 1,267 mm inside.

Check your roof code before choosing full-height shelving. Every kit StowPro list for these vans is a 1,050 mm frame, so it clears the standard roof on either shape with room to spare.

Will fitting racking reduce my Volkswagen Transporter payload?

Racking uses some of the Volkswagen Transporter's payload, but StowPro units are built from lightweight load-rated steel to keep that to a minimum.

Fit only the side or sides you need (Offside, Nearside or Full Kit) and keep heavy stock low and central to protect your remaining payload and handling.

Long items travel at floor level: the load length, 2,975 mm on a T5/T6 LWB or 3,002 mm on a T7 L2H1, is measured along the floor, and StowPro racking sits against the wall so the load floor in front of it stays clear.

Don't plan on carrying a full-length item on top of the racking. Higher up, the bulkhead and cab seats intrude, so the usable length above the floor is shorter than the floor figure. The offside kit itself runs 2,250 mm along the wall on the T5/T6 LWB and 2,500 mm on the T7 L2H1; tell us your body and roof and we'll confirm what fits.
