Offside or nearside?

Bird's-eye view of a right-hand-drive panel van: the offside (driver's side) takes one clear racking run from bulkhead to rear doors; the nearside (passenger side) racking is split by the sliding door.
Offside — one clear run Nearside — split by the sliding door

Bird's-eye view of a typical UK right-hand-drive van, with the standard single nearside sliding door.

Offside · driver's side

The longer run

The offside normally has no door breaking it up, so it takes the longest continuous racking run — the best wall for long items and full-height units.

Choose: Offside Only

Nearside · passenger side

Around the side door

The sliding load door splits this wall, so the nearside kit is modular fore and aft of the aperture, keeping loading access clear.

Choose: Nearside Only

Vauxhall Combo floor dimensions from manufacturer/reference data; offside and nearside run widths from StowPro kit specifications. The 2012-2018 rows are the Combo D, a Fiat Doblo body (the same van as the 2010-2022 Doblo Cargo), standard roof. The 2018-on rows are the current Stellantis small van, shared with the Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, Toyota Proace City and, from 2022, the Fiat Doblo. The two generations take different kits, so check the shape rather than the year if your van is from around the changeover.

Vauxhall Combo racking - common questions

What length racking fits in a Vauxhall Combo L1 on the offside?

On a 2018-on Vauxhall Combo L1 the StowPro Offside kit runs 1,250 mm of shelving along a 1,817 mm load floor; on the 2012-2018 Combo L1 a different kit runs the same 1,250 mm along a 1,820 mm floor.

The offside (driver's side) has no sliding door breaking it up, so it takes your longest run before the rear doors. For this side only choose the Offside Only kit; for both walls choose the Full Kit.

How long is the load area in a Vauxhall Combo?

The 2018-on Vauxhall Combo load length is 1,817 mm on the L1 and 2,167 mm on the L2; the 2012-2018 Combo is 1,820 mm on the L1 and 2,170 mm on the L2, measured along the floor.

Load width is about 1,550 mm on the 2018-on van and 1,714 mm on the 2012-2018 van, narrowing to about 1,230 mm between the wheel arches on both. StowPro build a kit for each of these bodies, so you match the rack to your exact van.

Do the 2012-2018 and the 2018-on Combo take the same racking?

No. The 2012-2018 Combo D is a Fiat Doblo body and the 2018-on Combo is a Berlingo and Partner body, and they take different StowPro kits even though the floors are almost the same length.

Pick your generation in the van search or read the table above, and if your van is from around 2018 check the shape rather than the year. On the L2 the difference shows in the runs: 1,650 mm offside and 1,000 mm nearside on the 2018-on van, 1,500 mm offside and 780 mm nearside on the 2012-2018 van.

Do I need the nearside or offside racking kit for my Vauxhall Combo?

Choose the Offside (driver's side) kit for the longest uninterrupted run, the Nearside (passenger side) kit to rack around the sliding door, or the Full Kit to fit out both walls.

On both generations of the Combo the standard sliding load door is on the nearside, so that side is split into shorter modules while the offside takes the longer run. Most trades kitting out a whole van take the Full Kit.

Is Vauxhall Combo racking the same as Peugeot Partner racking?

For the 2018-on Combo, yes: it is the same van as the 2018-on Peugeot Partner, Citroën Berlingo, Toyota Proace City and 2022-on Fiat Doblo, with identical load dimensions, so StowPro racking built for one fits the others.

The 2012-2018 Combo is the same van as the 2010-2022 Fiat Doblo Cargo instead. Match the generation and the body length and the kit is interchangeable across the badge-engineered twins.

Can I still carry long items past the racking in a Vauxhall Combo?

Yes, at floor level. StowPro racking sits against the wall and leaves the load floor clear, and if your Vauxhall Combo has a load-through hatch, long items can pass through the bulkhead at floor level.

The load-through length quoted by the manufacturer only applies at the floor with the hatch open; higher up the bulkhead intrudes, so plan around the floor length and don't count on resting long items on top of the racking.

Will fitting racking reduce my Vauxhall Combo payload?

Racking uses some of the Vauxhall Combo's payload, but StowPro units are built from lightweight load-rated steel to keep that to a minimum.

Fit only the side or sides you need (Offside, Nearside or Full Kit) and keep heavy stock low and central to protect your remaining payload and handling.

What's the longest item I can carry down the side of a Vauxhall Combo?

Long items travel at floor level: the load length, 2,167 mm on a 2018-on L2 or 2,170 mm on a 2012-2018 L2, is measured along the floor, and StowPro racking sits against the wall so the load floor in front of it stays clear.

Don't plan on carrying a full-length item on top of the racking. Higher up, the bulkhead and cab seats intrude, so the usable length above the floor is shorter than the floor figure. The offside kit itself runs 1,650 mm along the wall on the 2018-on L2 and 1,500 mm on the 2012-2018 L2; tell us your body and year and we'll confirm what fits.

Van Racking for the Vauxhall Combo

The Combo proves you don't need a big van to carry a proper setup. We rack it in L1 and L2, and because it shares its body with the Fiat Doblo and sits in the same family as the Berlingo and Partner, the fitment list covers the lot.

In a small van the argument for racking is even stronger: there's no room to lose anything, so everything needs a place. Shelving kits sort the boxes and tubs on steel shelves rated to 40kg each. Workshop kits add drawers for the screws, fixings and hand tools. No more emptying half the van to find one part, and no more buying things you already own.

The steel is heavy duty and hard-wearing, manufactured for the toughest demands with sturdy fabricated end frames. Every kit is made and assembled at our workshop in Devon and carries a 3 year guarantee.

Kits arrive palletised, already built. Position the units, fix them to the floor and sides of the van with the supplied brackets and fixings, and follow the comprehensive installation guide. Our customer service team are a phone call away throughout the fit.

Add ribbed anti slip mats, bins and end frame storage accessories to finish. Want a layout of your own? Mix and match the units from our standard kits with build your own, or talk to us about a custom design for your trade.
