What length racking fits in a Volkswagen Caddy SWB on the offside?

On a 2020-on Caddy Cargo the StowPro Offside kit runs 1,250 mm of shelving along a 1,797 mm load floor; on the 2005-2020 Caddy a different kit runs the same 1,250 mm along a 1,779 mm floor.

The offside (driver's side) has no sliding door breaking it up, so it takes your longest run before the rear doors. For this side only choose the Offside Only kit; for both walls choose the Full Kit.

How long is the load area in a Volkswagen Caddy?

The 2020-on Caddy Cargo load length is 1,797 mm on the SWB and 2,150 mm on the Maxi; the 2005-2020 Caddy is 1,779 mm on the SWB and 2,249 mm on the Maxi, measured along the floor.

Do the 2005-2020 Caddy and the 2020-on Caddy Cargo take the same racking?

No. The Caddy Cargo is a new van on a different platform, and it takes different StowPro kits from the 2005-2020 Caddy and Caddy Maxi.

The old Maxi is actually the longer of the two inside, 2,249 mm against 2,150 mm, and takes a longer offside run: 1,650 mm against 1,500 mm on the Cargo Maxi. Pick your generation in the van search or read the table above, and if your van is from around 2020 check the shape rather than the year.

Do I need the nearside or offside racking kit for my Volkswagen Caddy?

Choose the Offside (driver's side) kit for the longest uninterrupted run, the Nearside (passenger side) kit to rack around the sliding door, or the Full Kit to fit out both walls.

On both generations of the Caddy the standard sliding load door is on the nearside, so that side is split into shorter modules while the offside takes the longer run. Most trades kitting out a whole van take the Full Kit.

Will racking fit between the wheel arches in a Volkswagen Caddy?

Yes. There is 1,230 mm between the wheel arches on the 2020-on Caddy Cargo and 1,170 mm on the 2005-2020 Caddy, and StowPro units are sized to sit within that width.

Above the arches the load area opens out to 1,613 mm on the Cargo and 1,556 mm on the older van, so upper shelves can be wider than the floor-level base.

Will fitting racking reduce my Volkswagen Caddy payload?

Racking uses some of the Volkswagen Caddy's payload, but StowPro units are built from lightweight load-rated steel to keep that to a minimum.

Don't plan on carrying a full-length item on top of the racking. Higher up, the bulkhead and cab seats intrude, so the usable length above the floor is shorter than the floor figure. The offside kit itself runs 1,500 mm along the wall on the Cargo Maxi and 1,650 mm on the 2005-2020 Maxi; tell us your body and year and we'll confirm what fits.
