Offside or nearside?
Bird's-eye view of a typical UK right-hand-drive van, with the standard single nearside sliding door.
The longer run
The offside normally has no door breaking it up, so it takes the longest continuous racking run — the best wall for long items and full-height units.
Choose: Offside Only
Around the side door
The sliding load door splits this wall, so the nearside kit is modular fore and aft of the aperture, keeping loading access clear.
Choose: Nearside Only
Racking both walls? The Full Kit covers offside and nearside together.
Ford Transit Connect floor dimensions from manufacturer/reference data; offside and nearside run widths from StowPro kit specifications. The 2013-2024 rows are the previous Transit Connect. The 2024-on rows are the all-new Transit Connect, which shares its body with the Volkswagen Caddy Cargo. The same StowPro kits fit both generations, length for length.
Ford Transit Connect racking - common questions
What length racking fits in a Ford Transit Connect L1 on the offside?
On a 2024-on Ford Transit Connect L1 the StowPro Offside kit runs 1,250 mm of shelving along a 1,797 mm load floor; on the 2013-2024 Transit Connect L1 it is the same 1,250 mm kit along a 1,753 mm floor.
The offside (driver's side) has no sliding door breaking it up, so it takes your longest run before the rear doors. For this side only choose the Offside Only kit; for both walls choose the Full Kit.
How long is the load area in a Ford Transit Connect?
The 2024-on Ford Transit Connect load length is 1,797 mm on the L1 and 2,150 mm on the L2; the 2013-2024 Transit Connect is 1,753 mm on the L1 and 2,153 mm on the L2, measured along the floor.
Load width is 1,628 mm on the 2024-on van, narrowing to 1,230 mm between the wheel arches; the 2013-2024 van is 1,538 mm wide and 1,226 mm between the arches. StowPro build a kit for each of these bodies, so you match the rack to your exact van.
Do the 2013-2024 and the 2024-on Transit Connect take the same racking?
Yes. The same StowPro kits fit both generations, length for length: the L1 kit fits the 2013-2024 and the 2024-on L1, and the L2 kit fits both L2s.
They are different vans underneath (the 2024-on Transit Connect shares its body with the Volkswagen Caddy Cargo), but the load lengths and the gap between the wheel arches are within a few millimetres of each other. Pick your generation in the van search anyway so the fitment is recorded against the right van.
Do I need the nearside or offside racking kit for my Ford Transit Connect?
Choose the Offside (driver's side) kit for the longest uninterrupted run, the Nearside (passenger side) kit to rack around the sliding door, or the Full Kit to fit out both walls.
On both generations of the Transit Connect the standard sliding load door is on the nearside, so that side is split into shorter modules while the offside takes the longer run. Most trades kitting out a whole van take the Full Kit.
Will racking fit between the wheel arches in a Ford Transit Connect?
Yes. There is 1,230 mm between the wheel arches on the 2024-on Transit Connect and 1,226 mm on the 2013-2024 van, and StowPro units are sized to sit within that width.
Above the arches the load area opens out to 1,628 mm on the 2024-on van and 1,538 mm on the 2013-2024 van, so upper shelves can be wider than the floor-level base.
Can I still carry long items past the racking in a Ford Transit Connect?
Yes, at floor level. StowPro racking sits against the wall and leaves the load floor clear, and if your Ford Transit Connect has a load-through hatch, long items can pass through the bulkhead at floor level.
The load-through length quoted by the manufacturer only applies at the floor with the hatch open; higher up the bulkhead intrudes, so plan around the floor length and don't count on resting long items on top of the racking.
Will fitting racking reduce my Ford Transit Connect payload?
Racking uses some of the Ford Transit Connect's payload, but StowPro units are built from lightweight load-rated steel to keep that to a minimum.
Fit only the side or sides you need (Offside, Nearside or Full Kit) and keep heavy stock low and central to protect your remaining payload and handling.
What's the longest item I can carry down the side of a Ford Transit Connect?
Long items travel at floor level: the load length, 2,150 mm on a 2024-on L2 or 2,153 mm on a 2013-2024 L2, is measured along the floor, and StowPro racking sits against the wall so the load floor in front of it stays clear.
Don't plan on carrying a full-length item on top of the racking. Higher up, the bulkhead and cab seats intrude, so the usable length above the floor is shorter than the floor figure. The offside kit itself runs 1,650 mm along the wall on either L2; tell us your body and year and we'll confirm what fits.
