Ford Transit Van Racking & Electrical Installation – Pump Supplies (Bodmin) Case Study
David WoodwardShare
When Pump Supplies began searching for a van racking installation businesses near to them, they were pleased to finally find a local provider. Historically, their vans had to be sent to their Gloucester head office for racking and electrical installations.
This meant longer downtime, increased operational costs, and less control over design and communication. So when they discovered that StowPro had recently launched and now covered Cornwall and Devon for van racking installs, they jumped at the opportunity to test a local specialist.
This case study shows how StowPro delivered a complete Ford Transit installation-combining efficient storage, durable flooring and a fully integrated electrical system.
Project Overview: Custom Van Racking for a Ford Transit (L2H2)
Pump Supplies needed a replica of an existing but improved fleet layout with StowPro’s higher-quality storage. Their operational requirements included:
- Full offside van racking system
- Mixed van shelving, van cupboards and parts bins
- Nearside van drawers, worktop and storage panel
- Full electrical setup with Victron inverter and DC-DC charger
- Bright LED van lighting and 230V sockets for charging tools
- A durable 12mm phenolic fully profiled ply floor
Their engineers needed a van that functioned as a reliable mobile workspace.
CAD Design Phase – Faster Feedback, Better Control
A major benefit Pump Supplies enjoyed by choosing a local van racking installer was the improved communication and quicker turnaround.
StowPro worked directly with Steve at Pump Supplies, starting with detailed CAD drawings, allowing:
- Clear visualisation of the layout before installation
- Faster feedback and design changes
- Pre-approval of shelving, drawers and electrical placement
The design was signed off and the quote separated into:
- Van Racking
- Electrics
- Flooring
- Installation

Reducing Downtime with Pre-Installation Preparation
Reducing downtime was a priority for Pump Supplies. To support this, StowPro completed key tasks in advance of taking delivery of the van:
- Pre-profiling the phenolic ply floor
- Building and bench-testing the entire Victron electrical board
- Pre-assembling major racking components
This allowed us to perform the full installation quickly and efficiently once the van arrived.

On-Site Installation: Electrics, Flooring & Storage System
1. First-Fix Van Electrics
Pump Supplies selected:
- LED interior van lighting
- 230V sockets via van inverter
- Hot/cold hand wash
- Conduit-protected wiring for safety and durability
Routing everything through conduit helps the system withstand vibration, moisture and daily commercial use.

2. Phenolic Ply Floor Installation
The pre-cut heavy-duty 12mm phenolic ply floor, was installed, providing a strong, durable base for the workspace.

3. Racking Fitment
The racking was positioned to maximise the most of the load space and connection points prepared to allow secure mounting of the product.
Safety is crucial - especially ensuring all fixings are crash-safe and anchored correctly.

4. Electrical Board Connection & System Testing
The bench-tested Victron system was installation and re-tested, with key checks on:
- Inverter
- DC-DC charger
- LED lighting
- 230V sockets
- Hand wash
Once confirmed, the van was cleaned and handover completed with comprehensive guidance instructions on the use and maintenance of the systems.

Final Result: A Local Solution Built to Endure
Pump Supplies Bodmin now have:
- A fully customised van storage system
- Durable van drawers, shelving and cupboards
- A high-quality phenolic ply floor
- Reliable van electrics, inverter and charging system
- A fully functioning mobile engineering workshop
For the first time, they've been able to get a full racking and electrics installation locally - with no Gloucestershire travel, no extended van downtime and direct communication throughout.
